Designed and developed by a multidisciplinary team of researchers, SET uses the Unity game engine to allow users to both author and playback digital theatrical productions.The Simulated Environment for Theatre (SET) research team is comprised of researchers and assistants from universities across Canada who, collectively, have expertise in theatre, humanities computing, multimedia, graphic design, computer science and English. Their interests lie in the analysis, display, and reception of text, performance and graphics through technology. Since the project began in 2003, at various stages of development, the team has had the opportunity to collaborate with a number of researchers, professors and students in the design, programming and testing of the SET Interface.The Simulated Environment for Theatre (SET) research team came together in 2008 to enhance and build upon the capabilities of its predecessor, Watching the Script, a 2-dimensional digital environment for reading, exploring, and directing plays. Watching the Script was developed by members of the Experimental Reading Workshop (ERW), an open-ended research and design project collectively led by faculty, students and staff at the University of Alberta. Founded in 2003, the ERW currently operates under the umbrella of the Canadian Institute for Research in Computing and the Arts (CIRCA). מעבר לגבולה של החברה ההגמונית: הייצוג הנשי, וזרקור על "דיכוי האישה" בחברה שבטית-מסורתית, במחזות על "אחרים" - חרדים ובדווים http://www.merlot.org/merlot/viewMaterial.htm?id=711256 במאמר נטען כי הייצוג הדרמטי של סוגיית מעמד האישה במסגרת התיאטרון הרפרטוארי, ובעיקר של "דיכוי" האישה על מגוון היבטיו, בא לביטוי ישיר ובוטה בהקשר בין-תרבותי. במרבית מחזות המקור המוצגים בתיאטרון הקאמרי – כפרדיגמה לתיאטרון רפרטוארי מן הזרם המרכזי (mainstream) אשר אינו נוטה לייצג סוגיות מגדריות כדילמות דרמטיות – תופיע מצוקה מגדרית כבעיה חברתית ומתוך אמירה ביקורתית, אם בכלל, אך במחזות שמיקומם ודמויותיהם נטועים בעולם של חברה מסורתית חמורת גבולות שבה הנורמות וההיררכיה המגדרית ברורות, מובְנוֹת ומופנמות בקרב שני המינים. מחזות אלה נתפסים כמייצגים חברה של "אחרים״, המצויים מעבר לגבולה של החברה ההגמונית על קונצנזוס הערכים המאפיין אותה. הקונפליקטים המשפחתיים משמשים כחומר דרמטי גם במחזות שמייצגים את השסע הדתי-חילוני בחברה הישראלית, וגם במחזות שנתפסים כמיועדים "לחשוף" את המתרחש בתוך אותן חברות עצמן – בין אם זו החברה היהודית-חרדית ובין אם זו החברה הערבית-בדווית. המאמר נלקח מכתב העת "דברים" של מכללת אורנים.
