This is a collection of over fifty interactive Excel Spreadsheets (aka - simulations) or Excelets for discovery learning in general chemistry. The Excelets range from simple calculation aids to exploring concepts by bringing the mathematics alive. Topics covered include the bond energy calculator, temperature scales, ideal gas law, interactive periodic trends, Beer’s Law, kinetics including competing/consecutive reactions and radioactive decay, weak acid behavior, buffers, weak acid distribution diagrams, and potential energy diagrams plus the influence of random and/or systematic error in many of the topics. Guided-inquiry activities are included with many of the spreadsheets. A link to a "How to" guide for developing Excelets is provided.

This website contains a collection of excellent chemistry demonstrations that include overal descriptions of the experiment being demonstrated, the chemical concepts being reviewed, safety issues, the step-by-step procedures, questions to ask, a handoout that can be used for student makeups, and excellent movies that show what what happens in the experiment. The materials were developed in conjunction with Robert Becker of Kirkwood High School in Kirkwood, MO. The demonstrations and laboratories are those selected and used by Bob in his classroom. Many of the demonstrations may be assembled in a short time with a limited number of solutions to illustrate a specific point. Some demonstration activities are designated as suitable for either demonstrations or laboratories. If time is short, do a short demonstration with many presentation questions.

Crystals for the Classroom is a teaching-learning module designed to introduce students to the chemistry of crystals and solutions. Lessons in chemistry are embedded in issues relating to energy production, the science of nuclear energy, and the frontiers of research in nuclear fusion. *Crystals for the Classroom provides a collection of student-teacher materials that serve a wide range of pedagogies. They are intended to provide at least one useful resource that suits the teaching style of any general chemistry college or university instructor from traditional lecturer to experimentalist in new teaching methods and to provide students with support for various different learning styles. The materials are intended to stand alone in most cases; not requiring adoption nor use of the entire module.
