The Macaulay Library archive, world’s largest archive of animal sounds, has an extensive organized and documented collection of birds’ recordings and associated videos. It is an important resource for anyone interested in the sound of the natural world. This collection could be utilized for scientific studies on how animals communicate and express themselves. It could also be used to provide concrete sounds for backgrounds, illustrations, or to be incorporated in musical settings. Needless to say, that these sounds are so soothing that they could simply be used "as is," just for esthetic purposes. Unfortunately, more and more species became extinct. These cataloged sounds may also preserve sounds that sadly may disappear from the face of the earth.

Collections + [RE]collections is an interactive Website embodying my 90 year old father?s World War II experiences. It is educational in that it chronicles an historical event and provides for interactive annotation. It is entertainment in that many of the stories span the emotional gamut from humorous to heart wrenching. It is informative in that the text and photographs create a unique first person narrative about war. It is personal in that it is told from my father?s own perspective. It is about social change in that I have a responsibility to disseminate this material to a global audience so that this major event in history is not forgotten or minimized. It was by designed by Susan Metros, developed by Heather Locke and programmed by Mark Spurlock.
