4434COW -- Calculus on the Web
http://www.merlot.org/merlot/viewMaterial.htm?id=83836
This site is devoted to learning mathematics through practice. Many dozens of practice problems are provided in Precalculus, Calculus I - III, Linear Algebra, Number Theory, and Abstract Algebra. The last two subject areas -- referred to as "books" on the site -- are under construction. To each topic within a book (for example, Epsilon and Delta within Calculus I) there is a "module" of approximately 20 to 30 problems. Each module also includes a help page of background material. The modules are interactive to some extent and often provide suggestions when wrong answers are entered.Tue, 17 May 2005 00:00:00 -0700Discrete Math Resources

Requires Adobe Flash player.Tue, 27 Jan 2009 19:07:46 -0800Gaussian Elimination
http://www.merlot.org/merlot/viewMaterial.htm?id=914328
Gauss elimination is a method of solving a system of linear equations. This site contains an interactive tool that performs Gauss elimination procedure one step at a time. The result is displayed after each step. A user can also use this tool to invert a matrix. Thu, 4 Dec 2014 10:21:05 -0800Rotational Dynamics Web Assignment

http://www.merlot.org/merlot/viewMaterial.htm?id=720775
Old Egyptian Fractions at MathCats(Web and android version)Old Egyptian Math Cats knew fractions like 1/2 or 1/4 (one piece of a pie). But to make fractions like 3/4, they had to add pieces of pies like 1/2 + 1/4 = 3/4.Old Egyptian Math cats never repeated the same fraction when adding. They never wrote: 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 = 3/4How it works:Choose puzzles from the list on the top. ( * = easier, **** = very hard.)Add 2 or 3 fraction pieces below. After you find one solution, the puzzle is marked "Solved." Can you find more solutions? (Click to see them listed on the bottom.)There's the android version in the mirror site linkMon, 31 Dec 2012 01:00:30 -0800HOT Math! Hands-on tasks in the mathematics classroom
http://www.merlot.org/merlot/viewMaterial.htm?id=91318
The HOT Math! website is a resource website for maths teachers. The site presents ideas for hands-on tasks in the mathematics classroom (approx grade 8). ״Learning by doing" gives added value to our teaching. Students are motivated by hands-on tasks for various reasons. Hands-on tasks offer a change from the daily maths class work. They connect our subject to daily life, to other school subjects and to constructive discovering activities.Tue, 12 Sep 2000 00:00:00 -0700Mathway

Mathway is a mathematics problem solving tool where students can select their math course - Basic Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Trigonometry, PreCalculus, Calculus or Statistics and enter a problem. The computer solves the problem and shows the steps for the solution. It also has a worksheet generator.Thu, 22 Aug 2013 16:32:53 -0700Figure This! Math Challenges for Families
http://www.merlot.org/merlot/viewMaterial.htm?id=85249
'The rigors and demands of our increasingly complex, technologically dependent society have made high student achievement in mathematics a top priority among educators, policymakers, and employers. Todays citizens need more than basic computation and rote mathematical skills. They must master the higher-level concepts and approaches to problem solving that are key to success in work and everyday life.To meet this need, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, in cooperation with the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering, Widmeyer Communications, and the Learning First Alliance, launched Figure This!Figure This! demonstrates challenging middle school mathematics and emphasizes the importance of high-quality math education for all students. Funding for the project was provided by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the U.S. Department of Education.Figure This! Mathematical challenges for families provide interesting math challenges that middle-school students can do at home with their families. Each challenge features:a description of the important math involveda note on where the math is used in the real worlda hint to get startedcomplete solutionsa "Try This" sectionadditional related problems with answersquestions to think aboutfun facts related to the mathresources for further exploration.'Sat, 26 Nov 2005 00:00:00 -0800Centre for Innovation in Mathematics Teaching

http://www.merlot.org/merlot/viewMaterial.htm?id=736308
'MathSquared is a prototype series of grid-based puzzles using basic math operations that help learners develop logical thinking and reasoning strategies. Puzzles have different levels of challenge and include embedded supports for solving, such as a Scratch Pad for recording information that supports problem solving and the option for immediate feedback on your progress. These puzzles were developed as part of the iSolveIt project at CAST (http://www.cast.org), an educational research & development organization that works to expand learning opportunities for all individuals through Universal Design for Learning (UDL). iSolveIt is a mobile digital learning environment that supports the development of logical thinking and reasoning skills, essential competencies for algebra and mathematics in general.'This is a free appWed, 27 Feb 2013 08:11:51 -0800
