The clinical skills videos on this site have been created at the 'lowest common denominator' level for a host of medical and healthcare related disciplines with a view to share with the wider community. The content has been created and peer-reviewed by a multi-professional team so that it is applicable, with little or no change, to a variety of health-based courses. St Georges, University of London, have taken extreme care in preparing the information on this site but please be aware that there maybe slight variations in the procedures, shown in the videos, from institution to institution depending on policies and equipment used. All content on this website (including text, images, videos, and any other original works), unless otherwise stated, is already licensed under a Creative Commons deed.
Project Pachyderm

Pachyderm is an easy-to-use multimedia authoring tool. Designed for people who have little or no multimedia authoring experience, Pachyderm is accessed through a web browser and is as easy to use as filling out a web form. Authors upload their own media (images, audio clips, and short video segments) and place them into pre-designed templates, which include built-in functionality for playing video and audio, linking to other templates, and other features. Descriptive text can be copied and pasted in, or authored directly in Pachyderm. Once screens have been completed and linked together, the presentation is published and can then be downloaded and placed on the author’s website, on a CD, or elsewhere. Authors may also leave their presentations on the Pachyderm server and link directly to them there. The result is an attractive, interactive Flash-based multimedia presentation. Larry Johnson's name is listed with the project because his work with NMC which played a lead role in this project. However, this is an Open Source project (http://sourcefore.net/projects/pachyderm) based on work initially created by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. There are many authors who have worked together to create the application.

The Michigan Education through Learning Objects (MELO) project is a cross-disciplinary collaborative effort that has worked over the past three years to facilitate the integration of curriculum-based sequences of online learning objects (LOs) that complement classroom pedagogy in large enrollment gateway courses. MELO's goal is to enhance student learning, engagement, and persistence in college through the use of these learning objects. The materials represented in this collection are from the third year (MELO 3D) of the project. This award-winning project takes a unique approach to overcoming barriers to technology-enriched instruction by involving students (undergraduate and graduate) in addition to select faculty and staff from across different disciplines as key collaborators. By training select students and faculty to find, evaluate, adapt, create, and integrate LOs, the project facilitates the incorporation of high quality interdisciplinary and discipline-specific LOs into the curricula. The Open.Michigan collection serves as a central repository for materials created in association with the Michigan Education through Learning Objects project. The Materials tab contains training materials from the start of the projects, learning objects, survey instruments and conference abstracts from the project.
