Flinn Science Teacher Resources

Flinn Scientific, Inc has always been an outstanding source of safety information for K12 science teachers. Now Flinn is providing this site for teachers to share ideas, find helpful solutions to Frequently Asked Questions, access discipline-specifc resources (including equipment maintenance tips), explore laboratory design, and even access a job placement center. I expect that schools wanting a high quality lab science teacher might come to depend on this Flinn website to find the best teachers. Teachers can sign up to receive Flinn Scientific Safety Notes via email, and over 1300 Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) written specifically for science instructors teaching at a middle school, high school or community college are available. Flinn MSDS meet American Chemistry Council and ANSI standards. A multi-page model Chemical Hygiene Plan which teachers can alter to meet an individual school's needs is also provided. Although this is a legal requirement in 40 states, lab science teachers are generally not paid for this extra work - so Flinn's contributions are of tremendous value!

This site has information on atomic structure and bonding, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, instrument analysis, basic organic chemistry, and organic reaction mechanisms. There is also a link to Dr. Phil Brown?s website where you can get questions for tests. The site?s information is based on the syllabus for UK students. The site does not have many diagrams or any interactive material. However, the information is detailed and clear. Students in high school and undergraduate general chemistry classes will find it very helpful.
