<title>Using the Keirsey Temperament Sorter to Determine Communication Styles</title>
            <link>http://www.merlot.org/merlot/viewMaterial.htm?id=91407</link>
<description>The Keirsey Temperament Sorter is found on a commercial site that categorizes individuals into four types of temperaments labeled Guardian, Idealist, Rational, and Artisan, each of which has four Characters, based on the Meyers-Briggs typology. These temperaments differ somewhat from the Communication Styles used in most Personal Selling textbooks (Amiable, Expressive, Analytical, and Driver). However, the Keirsey Temperament Sorter allows students to determine their own temperaments through a short forced-choice questionnaire. NOTE: Initially, the site provided information about each type, including well known people for each Temperament and Character, as well as profiles of each for free. However, over the past year, the author has started charging for the complete report and only a simple one is now provided.</description>

            <title>MikesBikes-Advanced</title>
            <link>http://www.merlot.org/merlot/viewMaterial.htm?id=279129</link>
<description>MikesBikes-Advanced is specifically suited to MBA and advanced level business strategy courses. It has also been used in management courses such as Operations Management and Organizational Behavior.Participants have full control of the business from the beginning of the game and are responsible for Marketing, Finance, Operations, R&amp;D and HR decisions. They are required to analyze data, collaborate with each other, and make decisions just like managers in the real world with their performance being ranked on Shareholder Value against other student teams in their course. MikesBikes-Advanced has also been extensively used for corporate training with companies including, Microsoft and HP have used MikesBikes-Advanced as a way to offer cross-functional training to middle-managers and rising stars to encourage a better understanding of all the functions that are important in the efficient running of a company. It is usually partnered with MGH/I Textbooks such as Strategic Management, Dess-Lumpkin; Strategy, Thompson-Strickland, but can be used with any textbook of your choosing or if preferred without a textbook. The MikesBikes software comes complete with full documentation (Instructors and Players Manuals), online resources (presentations, assignments and quizzes), and in-game help files. There are two versions within the simulation, a Single-Player version and Multi-Player version. The Single-Player allows students to become familiar with the interface, their opponent is a computer controlled competitor. Students then move onto the Multi-Player version where they are placed into student teams to compete against each other and become responsible for their own virtual online company, making the key decisions each year (decision period) in single or multiple industries consisting of 4 to 7 firms within each for control of the market. Setting up your simulation is easy, all you need to do is email us with your class list with students placed into teams. Once we have these details we enter a standard or custom rollover schedule (when decisions are process each period) the simulation will run automatically with students entering decisions before the rollover date, and then able to view their results immediately after the rollover. The Administrator software allows you as an Instructor to monitor their performance and view summary reports. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or would like further information.
