            <description>In many US states, religious fundamentalists are not only challenging the teaching of evolution but also attacking astronomy, for teaching that the universe is much older than these believers would prefer it to be.  In response, the American Astronomical Society and the Astronomical Society of the Pacific issued an information packet for educators, students, and the public about how we know the age of the universe and that it evolves.</description>
