4434Mathematical Visualization Toolkit
http://www.merlot.org/merlot/viewMaterial.htm?id=89767
This site consists of a collection of plotting and solving applets featuring a uniform user interface. This site was selected as the 2005 MERLOT Classics Award winner for the Mathematics discipline due to its value and effectiveness as a set of teaching/learning tools. Visualizing mathematical concepts, especially in three-dimensional space, can be quite difficult for students. These tools and applications enable students to see the concepts in action and to come a deeper understanding of the underlying mathematics. In addition, the collaboration between the faculty, students and Sun Microsystems staff who together designed and constructed these tools was quite unusual and impressive. The collaboration itself is an inspiring model.Finding the Domain of a Function
http://www.merlot.org/merlot/viewMaterial.htm?id=81267
This applet guides the user through the process of finding the domain of a function. Hints and feedback are plentiful and useful. New problems are generated at the click of a button.Fractal Geometry
http://www.merlot.org/merlot/viewMaterial.htm?id=80454
This is a glossary of fractals including dozens of examples that are fully explained.Function Grapher
http://www.merlot.org/merlot/viewMaterial.htm?id=89592
Graphs one or more functions of a single variable, with zoom in/out and other nice features.Geometry Gallery-Basic Geometry
http://www.merlot.org/merlot/viewMaterial.htm?id=76212
A collection of applets that demonstrate basic geometric concepts. How the ball bounces
http://www.merlot.org/merlot/viewMaterial.htm?id=77011
An animation portraying the mathematics of a bouncing ballInteractive Mathematics--Probability
http://www.merlot.org/merlot/viewMaterial.htm?id=79173
This site contains an extensive collection of java applets involving probability miscellany and puzzles. Written by Alexander Bogomolny, these applets are designed to engage the reader in interactive investigations. Background material is provided and the site serves as an excellent educational resource. The Binomial, Normal, and Poisson Distributions Compared
http://www.merlot.org/merlot/viewMaterial.htm?id=78577
This applet graphs the Poisson and normal approximations to a specified binomial distribution. The user may select the values of n and p to be used. The Prime Pages
http://www.merlot.org/merlot/viewMaterial.htm?id=89022
Everything you ever wanted to know about prime numbers.Exponent Rules
http://www.merlot.org/merlot/viewMaterial.htm?id=81519
This site generates problems that test students' understanding of exponent rules. Hints and feedback are available
