Text of Learning Exercise: Instructions: Once on the page "Exploring Constitutional Conflict," Scroll to the bottom of the page and Click "Famous Trials." Click "Trial of Sir Thomas More." Read: Leviticus and the King's Great Matter,The Oath and the Treason Act, More's Interrogations, the Account of the Trial, and the Trial Report. Note that the Acts of Parliament list the laws but those links no longer work. You will need to consult the textbook for the specifics for these laws. Write a 5-7 page paper answering the following questions: 1. Why did Henry VIII want to annul his marriage to his wife, Catherine of Aragon? 2. Summarize the Acts of Parliament that created the Church of England and separated it from the Roman Catholic Church. 3. Summarize The Oath and Treason Act. 4. What was revealed from the interrogations of More? 5. Describe the major actions and debates in More's trial. 6. What was the Trial's outcome and what was More's fate? 7. Did More get a fair trial?
