The web site provides a detailed tour of the Hancock Shaker community, offers information about the Shaker faith, and has an excellent set of web sites to other Shaker communities in the United States.

Text of Learning Exercise: In the 19th century the Shakers were a major religious movement later associated with items they invented or made. Go on line to www.hancockshakervillage.org .
Click Shakers and read a brief review of the basic tenets of the Shaker faith.
Click site index. Click on each of the following buildings: Brick Dwelling, Round Stone Barn, Trustee's House, and Meeting House. Gather information about each of these four structures.
Click Detailed Hancock Shaker Village Information. Click on each building listed and gather information about each one.
Write a 5-7 page paper answering this question. "How was the Shaker faith expressed in the earthly architectural creations they built?"
