| Text of Learning Exercise: |
Read Chapters 1-6 on the French Revolution. (There are 12 chapters. Only read the first six for this exercise.) Write a paper of 5-7 pages answering the following questions: (1) Identify and discuss the causes of the French Revolution; (2) Explain why the monarchy was unaware of the problems leading to the Revolution; (3) Evaluate the role of the French Enlightenment on the events leading to the Revoution; (4) Identify the specific events that provoked the Revolution; (5) Explain the role of women in the Revolution; and (6) Examine the circumstances leading to the King's arrest and execution. A final question to consider is whether or not the French Revolution could have been avoided.
