will respond to questions. 3. Students will develop vocabulary and identify key
ideas in text. 4. Students will evaluate information about the Earth’s tectonic
plates. 5. Students will follow multiple-step directions.
CDE Language Arts: Reading Comprehension: Comprehension and Analysis of
Grade-Level-Appropriate Text: 2.1 Identify the structural features of popular
media (e.g., online information) and use the features to obtain information.?2.2
Analyze text that uses the compare-and-contrast organizational patterns. 2.3
Connect and clarify main ideas by identifying their relationships to other
sources and related topics. ?2.4 Clarify an understanding of texts by creating
outlines, logical notes, summaries, or reports.?2.5 Follow multiple-step
instructions.
CDE Science: Plate Tectonics and Earth’s Structure: Plate
tectonics accounts for important features of Earth's surface and major geologic
events. As a basis for understanding this concept: Students know evidence of
plate tectonics is derived from the fit of the continents; the location of
earthquakes, volcanoes, and mid-ocean ridges; and the distribution of fossils,
rock types, and ancient climatic zones. CDE-ELL

classroom related activities. Read and orally identify the main ideas and draw
