Students will develop vocabulary and identify key ideas in text. 4. Students will evaluate new information about Saturn. 5. Students will know that Saturn is a planet in our solar system. 6. Students will follow multiple-step directions. CDE Language Arts: Reading Comprehension: Comprehension and Analysis of Grade-Level-Appropriate Text?2.3 Discern main ideas and concepts presented in texts, identifying and assessing evidence that supports those ideas.? 2.4 Draw inferences, conclusions, or generalizations about text and support them with textual evidence and prior knowledge. 2.5 Distinguish facts, supported inferences, and opinions in text. CDE Science: Earth Sciences: The solar system consists of planets and other bodies that orbit the Sun in predictable paths. As a basis for understanding this concept: 5b: Students know the solar system includes the planet Earth,
the Moon, the Sun, eight other planets and their satellites, and smaller objects, such as asteroids and comets. CDE-ELL Literacy Component: Reading Comprehension (Intermediate): Comprehension and Analysis of Grade Level Understand and follow simple written directions for classroom related activities. Read and orally identify the main ideas and draw inferences about written text using detailed sentences. Read and identify basic text features such as title, table of contents, and chapter headings.
