Comment: Task significance is really important for someone with a career that spends hours and hours everyday working. To have your work mean something to people and knowing about it can greatly increase levels of work output and satisfaction. Someone without task significance can get lost in the workplace and have no motivation to work harder and eventually be really unhappy. This article was really enjoyable for me because it makes sense in every way. Motivation is key to productivity and hapiness and in a way that is what task significance is, reassurance that your job is making a difference, or what your doing is making a difference. Some jobs have greater or lesser degrees in what the company or person can do to show more task significance but even a little bit more effort to show task significance cannot be a bad thing. The different examples he used for backing his claim that task significance makes people more dedicated and happy were all spot on, i feel like when i get a job task significance will play a big role. Happinness has a lot to do in the workplace and keeping people happy and motivated is key, task significance does this to people because it is generally human nature to do good for other people, a good example for me is being able to make something or do something and have them directly see your work and they're reaction to it. Its like giving someone a gift and being there for them to see it or just dropping a gift off at the party and leaving, there is no satisfaction in that and task significance is along these lines. Task significance can range from a lifeguard to computer software technicians at microsoft, using this philosophy of task significance people will generally be more motivated and happier at work.
