Content Quality
Rating:
Strengths:
Great course with content from very distinguished and recognized sources.
The course provides a complete and self-contained approach, numerous cases and reading assignments, study questions, simulations, and a broad view of operations management in different industries.
Concerns:
No everything is open. It is required that students purchase many of the materials and simulations.
Many of the materials are case studies that require a class guided by a professor.
As it is a complete course, it is quite long and requires an important investment of time.
The course material is from 2013, although slightly dated most parts are still highly relevant and useful.
Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool
Rating:
Strengths:
Well structured. Includes a number of teaching materials (not necessarily multimedia ones) such as readings, exercises, case discussions, simulations.
This is comprehensive, well-developed, and multiple components are integrated into an effective learning experience.
Concerns:
Many pieces of content are not open.
Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
Rating:
Strengths:
The instructions and the menus are clear and easy to find;
A nice feature of the MIT Open Courseware is one button to download all the course documents.
It includes simulations and case study discussions.
Concerns:
Not much interactive material.
Due to the fact that it is a whole course, it is quite long.
It is not to check everything because purchasing licenses is required.
Other Issues and Comments:
The content is very informative and parts could be good supplemental information for any appropriate business course.
