Content Quality
Rating:
Strengths:
The video presesntation focuses on valid concepts, models and skills for onine teaching and learning. The video itself is quite long as it is the speaker giving an actual training session geared to a group with questions from participants. The speaker obviously cares deeply about supporting online learners.
Some of the material is geared specifically toward the Brightspace/D2L LMS but most will easily transfer to tools used in other LMS's.
Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool
Rating:
Strengths:
The learning goals are easy to identify because the author has created a PPT presentation that is organized into steps with topics/objectives. The video could be used as is because the speaker is very easy to listen to, he explains himself, gives examples, and keeps his slide presentation engaging. Plus he pauses for questions after each step. The materials provided are open to all and could easily be adapted for a training session. So basically all of his materials could be customized for an overview at any institution.
Step 1 includes the introduction and overview of the session where he explains the plan for the hour: Supporting online learners, Brightspace tools, Designing group activities and Adaptive curriculum design. Following steps include the title, followed by the objectives of the session.
Step 5 Tools (in this case BSp but similar to all LMS's)

Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
Rating:
Strengths:
The video presentation is laid out very well with steps and explanations. Also the accompanying Google Drive folder has easily accessible documents and PDF files for download.
It is easy to navigate to certain segments of the video presentation.
Concerns:
Plan ahead as entire video is about 50 minutes.
Setting aside that amount of time is challenging but worth it!
