Those of you who have worked in media or marketing may have heard the term 'storyworld'. But what exactly is a storyworld? In this video, Erica shares her Storyworld definition, explaining the concept. In essence, a storyworld in the universe in which a story exists, including it's characters and settings. The story itself could be fictional, non-fictional or blur the lines between reality and fiction. So similarly the storyworld could be fictional, non-fictional, or blur the the lines between reality and fiction. With immersive, experiential, convergence, cross-platform and digital media storytelling, these storyworlds are ever expanding and allowing for greater levels of engagement with the audience - in fact giving the audience the ability to impact and alter the story. Audiences themselves whether they realize it or not are building their own storyworlds, as they are more actively sharing their stories with digital media. The stories they engage with in return impact their own storyworld.
