Evaluation and Observation

Content Quality

Rating: 4 stars
Strengths: The content is accurate and the purpose is clear. Positive feedback and scoring is provided. The module contains a familiar format to foreign language learners used to drills to improve grammatical accuracy.
Concerns: The inclusion of irregular forms and additional tenses would enhance this effective program.

Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool

Rating: 5 stars
Strengths: This module constitutes an engaging way of practicing a vital area of French grammar. It could be readily integrated into any course where grammar is studied. For classrooms where communication is a priority over the practice of grammar drills, the module provides the user with a useful activity to do outside of class. Users can progress at their own pace, repeat the module as often as they like and retry exercises. Instructions are clear and easy to follow.
Concerns:

Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty

Rating: 4 stars
Strengths: The navigation scheme of the module is very clear. There is a continuity provided by the common design elements on each page. The instructions are clearly provided on a series of screens, rather than being cluttered on one page. This module lends itself more to use by the individual learner or a pair of learners than to projection on a large screen. Users are encouraged by positive feedback at the item level and also in the scoring at the top of the page. It is also possible to see the verb paradigms to review conjugation patterns with the click of the schema button.
Concerns: : The inclusion of other tenses and moods would enhance the module. This may well be the intention of the authors in the future, although not stated in the module.
