Evaluation and Observation

Content Quality

Rating: 3 stars
Strengths:

  • The quiz provides a straight forward association between clue and matching bone.
  • The timing element of the matching presents a challenge to students and a "fun" aspect that especially younger students may enjoy. This also provides students with a way to evaluate their improvement.
  • The quiz forces the student to make choices and immediately provides feedback.
Concerns:

  • A limited number of bones presented in the quizzes - the quiz focuses on the
appendiges and jaw bones, it lacks other skull bones and vertebrae, among others.
  • Each quiz presents only 8 matches.

Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool

Rating: 2 stars
Strengths:

  • Quick, easy and to the point. This gives instructor flexibility on how to use it.
  • The timed feature at the end of the quiz is a fun reward and immediately challenges the student to do better.
Concerns:

  • This site is designed as a self-testing and review tool, not a teaching tool per se.
  • Simply associates anatomical terms with common description - does not give students much context of the mechanical function of the bones or any concept of the origin of the anatomical term.
  • The quiz tests only the ability to recognize a limited number of anatomical terms.

Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty

Rating: 5 stars
Strengths:

  • Very striaght forward and easy to use.
Concerns: None.
