Evaluation and Observation

Content Quality

Rating: 3 stars
Strengths: This applet demonstrates the sound of some of the common change ringing sequences with fairly good sound production and a functional GUI.
Concerns: The instructions on manipulating the bell ringing sequence are difficult to understand partially due to the complexity of the art of change ringing. The links that the author provides to sites with more detail should be updated.

Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool

Rating: 3 stars
Strengths: The effectiveness of this site as a teaching tool would rely primarily on the context that a teacher provides. The interactive manipulation of the bell ringing sequence is the most attractive use of this site as a teaching tool. Once students have been introduced to the art of bell ringing. This site would offer them the ability to follow the patterns of established bell ringing sequences and create their own.
Concerns: The site lacks a description of the art of bell ringing and is not a self contained learning unit.

Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
