Overview: This site is presented as a "Self-Help" format for depression, anxiety, stress,
addictive behaviors and career counseling. Major categories of the site are the
self-help center, self-help tools and consulting services.
Learning Goals: This material does not appear to be designed for formal educational use.
Therefore, no teaching/learning goals are evident.
Target Student Population: Public at large
Prerequisite Knowledge or Skills: None
Type of Material: Primarily text and links to other sources.
Recommended Uses: It might be used as an example of contemporary attempts to make services
accessible. A lesson about "E-Therapy" to upper level psychology students might
include this site.
Technical Requirements: None

Evaluation and Observation

Content Quality

Rating: 2 stars
Strengths: To the author's credit, he does offer a "Warning" that self-help in not a
substitue for therapy. Since this site is not designed with educational goals in
mind, it could be used to demonstrate aspects of "Cyber Psychology".
Concerns: This site seems to "promise" too much and attempts to address too many emotional
disorders.

Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool

Rating: 2.5 stars
Strengths: Comparison of several such commercial sites might be an effective method of
student evaluation of the concept of "on line therapy". Such a critique could
lead to valuable discussion of ethical considerations.
Concerns: This site is not designed with educational objectives in mind.

Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty

Rating: 2 stars
Strengths: The site is easy to navigate and links were operational.
Concerns: None

Other Issues and Comments: As an instructional instrument, this site has limited value. I could be used in
conjunction with other materials to encourage discussion regarding ethical
consideration of technology in psychology.
