Evaluation and Observation

Content Quality

Rating: 5 stars
Strengths: This is a well-designed, comprehensive learning module for users of the textbook
Integrated Chinese. It includes audios and texts for reviewing each lesson and
exercises for extended practice. In the review section, learners can select to
listen to recordings only or to listen and read texts at the same time. They
also have the option of viewing new words and sentence patterns in the texts
with links to additional examples. The exercise section consists of practices at
the word, sentence, and paragraph levels. Each level has listening
comprehension exercises in the form of true-false or multiple-choice questions.
Concerns:

Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool

Rating: 5 stars
Strengths: This module can be used effectively in classroom teaching or as supplementary
listening and reading drills. Immediate voice feedback in each exercise further
enhances self-learning.
Concerns: Users can potentially get trapped in the web site since on most of the pages
there is no direct link back to the main page with the table of contents. The
web pages can also be improved by including some graphics, especially those
reflecting the contents of each lesson.

Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty

Rating: 4 stars
Strengths: The module does not require any special software, and it is well organized, user
friendly, and has clear instructions.
Concerns: Users can potentially get trapped in the web site since on most of the pages
there is no direct link back to the main page with the table of contents. The
web pages can also be improved by including some graphics, especially those
reflecting the contents of each lesson.
