Overview: The English idioms and quizzes website provides examples of idiomatic
expressions that are commonly used in both oral and written discourses in the
present. The main feature of this website is the categorization of idioms, such
as by alphabets and aspects of life. It also contains quizzes following each
list of idioms. Links to recommended books are provided. This website can be
used by children and adults learning English as a second language or those who
have language difficulties.
Learning Goals: Learners will be able to become familiar with the meanings of the chosen idioms
as used in sentence examples and reinforce their knowledge through the quizzes.
Target Student Population: The site would be ideal for learners who have intermediate English proficiency
and who wish to gain more fluency in oral and written English.
Prerequisite Knowledge or Skills: Intermediate level in English
Type of Material: Reference; Quiz/test
Recommended Uses: This website can be used as supplementary material for English language learners
to practice with. Teachers can also use this website to show their students how
they may want to categorize their own lists of idioms.
Technical Requirements: None

Evaluation and Observation

Content Quality

Rating: 4 stars
Strengths: The strength of this website is the categorization of idioms.
Concerns: No concerns

Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool

Rating: 3 stars
Strengths: It is easy to navigate through the categories of idioms in this website. It may
be better used as a learning tool than a teaching tool.
Concerns: It would have been great if this website also provided origins behind the idioms
whenever possible.

Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty

Rating: 3.5 stars
Strengths: I like the fact that the idioms under each category are arranged alphabetically.
It is easy for the audience to browse the website.
Concerns: When a user clicks on a topic, the results are not always easy to find. The
user must scroll down and find the material just above the advertisement for
texts.

Other Issues and Comments: This is a useful website for people who are interested in learning about idioms
and proverbs. The website would be even more inviting if it contained simple
definitions of idioms and proverbs, explaining their differences, and pointing
out
some of the origins behind the idioms.
