Evaluation and Observation

Content Quality

Rating: 5 stars
Strengths: This test is part of a large commercial site devoted to Total Quality training and tools. It is designed for people interested in SIX SIGMA certification or with an interest in SIX SIGMA as a quality control program. The material requires that the exam taker first have some knowledge about quality control, statistics, and SIX SIGMA. This would make an excellent pre-test/post-test instrument for students learning about SIX SIGMA in an operations management class.
Concerns: This is an advanced module that requires prior knowledge of total quality and statistics; it needs to be used in conjunction with a course on these topics

Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool

Rating: 4 stars
Strengths: The module is very well designed and easy to use. The survey consists of 16 questions that are taken right on-line. After each question, the correct answer is provided along with an explanation. Final results include a bar chart breakdown of questions according to categories. Twenty questions are generated so that students taking the exam probably would not see the same set of questions from one exam to the next.
Concerns: No concerns other than that this module needs to be linked to the concepts

Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty

Rating: 5 stars
Strengths: The module is an assessment/exam, and can be used specifically for this purpose. It is designed more as an assessment tool rather than a teaching tool.
Concerns: Instructors should point students to material about SIX SIGMA before taking they take the exam.
