Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool

Rating: 4.75 stars
Strengths: Teachers who use Radio France Internationale in their classes, whether it be for on the air or online listening, can use this site to teach strategic listening and to promote immersion in the target language. Pre and post-listening activities can be designed for the Faits du jour, which have a longer shelf life than the weekly news. As developing listening is the hardest task for most L2 learners, rfi provides an excellent tool for practice. Students can listen again and again and study at their own pace. They can read transcripts or not, according to their needs. The topics are certainly contemporary, so it is easy to activate prior knowledge.

Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty

Rating: 4.75 stars
Strengths: The learning materials are accessible from the home page under the heading Langue Française. Once on that page, there are materials for learners under the verbs apprendre comprendre and teaching materials under enseigner.
Concerns: The home page is a busy portal, so some users may have a hard time finding the learning materials without some initial instructor guidance.
