Evaluation and Observation

Content Quality

Rating: 4.75 stars
Strengths: Easy site to navigate; credible material; appealing to different audiences; interesting. This is a large collection of public service advertising, and contains the content of the ads, background about the need for the advertising, and press releases and other information about the ad campaign.
Concerns: The module is best used after contextualizing it through discussion of the background and purpose of public service advertising and the roles of the Ad Council and governmental agency sponsors.

Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool

Rating: 4.75 stars
Strengths: Learning objectives are not necessarily identified, but objectives would depend on the user's interests and purposes. You definitely could learn a great deal in a short time. Some familiarity with the ads would be natural for most anyone viewing the material. It would be easy to write assignments for this module. In addition, it could be used in class as a basis for discussion on the role of public service advertising.
Concerns: It is possible that people without any basic knowledge of the theory of advertising might not enjoy the learning experience, but it is doubtful. Most anyone would find the site interesting. The site is not intended to be a traditional learning module, with learning goals and conceptual progression.

Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty

Rating: 5 stars
Strengths: High design quality, engaging, interactive, and easy to use.
Concerns: None

Other Issues and Comments: This material would be a wonderful supplement to a chapter on PSAs in a textbook.
