Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
Rating:
Strengths:
The quality of digital reproductions is very high. Images and video- and audio files are offered in several formats (JPEG, TIFF, MPEG, Real Media, QuickTime) which enables the user choose the quality level and software for viewing/listening. Each item is annotated making it easy to search. The site search engine allows the users to locate materials by their format (sound, image, map, etc.), search inside books with searchable texts. The site map is very helpful.
Concerns:
The site has been last updated in 2005. The link to the home page is not well indicated. Many video files are very large in size and take a lot of time to download. They perhaps could be reformatted and reduced in size as the technologies of 2008 have advanced since 1999-2003 when most of the recordings have been digitized.
