|
| Strengths: |
This site contains an interactive tutorial that is broken into a sequence of lessons that help the user to gradually learn how to use GeoGebra http://www.merlot.org/merlot/viewMaterial.htm?id=274019 tool. These lessons cover most of the main features of the tool starting from the very basic constructions in geometry and going all the way up to advanced features of GeoGebra that include interactive Web objects, LaTeX scripts, curve fitting, etc. Also included are tutorials on how to use cascading style sheets and JavaScript in coordination of the GeoGebra tool. Each lesson contains a ready to deploy GeoGebra object, a Camtasia video demonstration, a PDF script, and a sample file. While some of these assignments are straightforward, such as making simple geometric constructions, many others explore deeper concepts such as functions, derivatives, and even math modeling problems. |

Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool |
Rating: |
|
| Strengths: |
With clear and detailed instructions, demonstrations, and examples, users seeking help with GeoGebra should be well-rewarded by visiting this site. Even though the site is merely a tutorial for another learning tool, it contains a link to a number of teaching and learning resources that use GeoGbra. After going through the tutorials, the users will be able to create their own complex GeoGebra learning objects. |
| Concerns: |
Although there is a large number of topics covered by this tutorial, these topics are not comprehensive enough to replace a complete manual in Geogebra. |

Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty |
Rating: |
|
| Strengths: |
The tutorial is very straightforward and can be used immediately. PDF scripts and Camtasia demonstrations are very helpful learning tools. Most of the Camtasia demonstrations contain a table of contents for easy navigation through the videos. |
| Concerns: |
The site would certainly benefit from a better Web design. |
