Evaluation and Observation

Content Quality

Rating: 4.5 stars
Strengths: The content provided is the standard advice given to students when teaching them how to present the ideas of others in their research papers and how to properly give the original author credit for his or her ideas. This module focuses on the APA Author-Date style for consistency but the principles presented are relevant regardless of the style manual being used. Very clear and concise. It provides a complete understanding of what plagiarism is and how to avoid it by quoting, paraphasing, or summarizing. At the end it summarizes want was learned.
Concerns: none

Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool

Rating: 4.5 stars
Strengths: The content is presented in a logical order from how to paraphrase or quote others' ideas to how to properly cite sources. Questions are presented throughout the tutorial to test student understanding and key concepts are visually offset from the rest of the text. Could easily be made into an assignment. It states the length of time it will take to complete the module (30 min.)
Concerns: This tutorial is text-heavy. It is a lot of reading on the screen and may be one effective way of teaching these concepts to some students.

Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty

Rating: 4.25 stars
Strengths: This module is very easy to use and understand. The section called "guidelines" asks questions about what has been learned in "The Basics" section and provides immediate feedback for the student. The "Summary" section has a quiz and provides a certificate if 100% is earned.
Concerns: None
