Overview: Community-Based Learning is a white paper issued by the Coalition for Community Schools with support from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. This report provides a rationale and a detailed description of the core characteristics for Community-Based Learning. The report also provides outcomes of such programs and a theoretical foundation for the programs.

Concerns: The paper is designed to be used by educators and community leaders and the vocabulary, syntax and sentence length reflect that. There is no date indicated on the document. When was it published? Are the data current?

Other Issues and Comments: The report is a good resource for those who are considering community based learning as an effective way to increase the level of content relevance and student engagement.
