Overview: This module includes 25 interactive PowerPoint flash cards that allow student to drill and practice the rules of debit and credit using EARLS and LASER acronyms.
Learning Goals: The purpose is to Identify whether increasing or decreasing specific accounts results in the account being debited or credited.
Target Student Population: High School, College Lower Division
Prerequisite Knowledge or Skills: Introductory accounting knowledge is needed.
Type of Material: Drill and practice.
Recommended Uses:
  • To learn and reinforce the rules of debit and credit.
  • In-class or homework, individual or team.
  • Technical Requirements: Browser, Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 and Word 2007.

  • Provides a complete demonstration of the concept, summarizing and integrating the concept well.
  • Concerns: If considered only for the material content, this module is limited. However, its ability to be modified is good.

    Strengths: Identifies the learning objectives, prerequisite knowledge, and provides an effective teaching tool.
    Concerns: The explanations for wrong answers are rote and do not really address the reason for why the answer given is wrong.
