Overview: This document that provide instructional designers, directors of distance education programs, and faculty valuable information in regards to the components of online courses. The rubric is divided in 3 main categories: baseline, effective, exemplary which covers introduction, objectives, assessment of prior knowledge, readings, content pages, assignments, assessments and group work.
Learning Goals: The document summarizes the general desired components of an online course. It can be used as a checklist while preparing online courses.
Target Student Population: The targeted populations are: college and university faculty who teaches or plan to teach online.

Type of Material: The format is HTML, a webpage with internal links and includes references.

Concerns: Would be strengthened with suggestions of how to correct weakenesses identified by the rubric.
