Overview: The antibiotic assay tutorial provides students with background, mode of action, and uses of several classes of antibiotics, which is followed by instructions on how to calculate antibiotic concentrations in patient fluids using graph paper and how to analyze the results. This activity gives students a good hands on opportunity to apply foundational knowledge of antibiotics to a real clinical setting.

  • Students will learn how to collect, graph, and calculate antibiotic concentrations
  • Students will learn how to evaluate antibiotic concentrations and make therapeutic recommendations based on the concentrations
