Content Quality
Rating:
Strengths:
• The content that is located within this web source is very clear and concise, despite being very familiar with the material.
• There is a wealth of information that is provided making it rather simple for users to begin compiling research information.
• There are links within content provided to take readers directly to a given area of interest and with the simple click of the back arrow button is immediately returned to the last spot.
• Useful leadership quotes are included.
Concerns:
• The only concern with the terms of quality is the lack of specific references to the sources/resources used. If I am a researcher and I locate a specific area of interest, despite that I may have used this particular site to locate the information, I also know that this site is not necessarily the original creator of such information.
• Please make sure you update your content to include relevant and up to date sources/resources.
Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool
Rating:
Strengths:
• There are no learning objectives identified, however, for this particular site it is not necessary to identify learning objectives, if this site is used for research, the objectives are clear.
• I do agree that the content does build upon prior concepts; this is clarified through the use of inter-content links to further demonstrate relationships between concepts and support concepts throughout the content provided.
• There is a great wealth of information located within the website tutorial that would/could allow for learning a great deal in a short period of time, and that appears to be the purpose of the site and tutorial.
Concerns:
• It can be confusing with the web of links provided within the content; I had a hard time remember where I was and where I wanted to go because every time a link is clicked it may not always take you to the content on that page.
• Did not locate or see any cited sources for which this content came from and that would/could make it difficult for a student that may be using this tutorial content as part of a research project.
• The material states that different leaders will have different perspectives of leadership, but only one (Jack Welsh) is highlighted. • • The material is not interactive or focused on multiple learning styles.
Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
Rating:
Strengths:
• The site is actually very simple to use.
• The site does offer a search option which did locate information within the Businessballs.com site with just one or two words needed, I like this option, especially with a site that has this much compiled information and resources.
• With this site, I considered interactivity as it related to me the user and my ability to interact with the content. This is not a site that requires a high level of interaction with the content and a score of N/A may be more applicable, but the user can interact with some of the material.
Concerns:
• All the web links within the content, while it can make it easier for the user, can also be confusing. Found myself getting lost in this web of links that was contained within the vast amount of content, I would consider maybe reformatting the content or the way with which it is displayed, maybe breaking it up into more easily digestible chunks of content with specific headers.
• Creating different pages with the information may be more effective in maintaining the learner's attention.
• The article links to many other sites, but many are broken or disabled.
Other Issues and Comments:
I have to say, that I can recall visiting this particular page in past research efforts, especially with relation to a literature review I completed on some of the theorists. I can appreciate the amount of time it took to compile all this information and content with relation to the videos and exercises/quizzes that were shared within the site are fabulous and I will be recommending students to take a look at this site for specific activities.
