Description:

A problem or a need:
The technology use, skills, and familiarity between teachers and their students or faculty and pre-service teachers can vary greatly. It is important that teaching goals are framed in the context of “our students today,” and that best practice attempts are made to engage students with 21st century skills and tools. All divides need to be understood. K-12 teachers and college faculty need to understand that digital divides still exist (from the original native vs. immigrant definition, but also in terms of access: do all schools have broadband access, hardware/software resources, funding for repairs/upgrades, etc.). As a teacher/faculty - what are my personal skills and resources? What are the skills and resources of our students? How do we bridge any gaps that may exist?

This workshop was designed for a group of faculty charged with re-evaluating a technology mission/vision statement to make sure they were “on the same page,” when discussing the strategic plan.
