"Using primary sources from a variety of newspapers, periodicals, and other documentary materials, this projects provides teachers and students with an innovative approach to understanding the events, processes, and conditions that defined this crucial era of American history."  The materials are divided into two major subcategories.  The "Race & Education archive offers a wider range of primary sources, searchable by key word, district, year, and source type, which enables teachers and students to explore their own studies of Virginia's system of segregated public education in the decade of the 1930s."  The "Educational Modules provide an introductory context, a selection of primary sources, a conclusion, and additional resources that guide teachers and pupils through an inquiry-based method of teaching and learning."
