This activity, developed by the Lane Community College MAPS GIS Program, asks students to "describe the spatial distribution pattern of several ancestry groups and then explore the data to look for correlations between ancestry and medium income" using geographical information systems (GIS). The two-page PDF links to all necessary outside material, including the web-based GIS view needed to complete the activity and a guide to understanding ethnic diversity and identity. The procedures for the activity are clear, and there are 13 questions for students to answer during the course of the activity.
