Learning Objects: What are they? How do you use them?

This webinar slides were presented April 11, 2008. Terry Bartelt, of Fox Valley Technical College, will answer the question, "What are Learning Objects (LOs), and how do I use them in my classroom?" He will give examples of LOs, show two websites where the Fox Valley's LOs are located, and describe different ways they can be used for instruction. These websites receive over 3.7 million hits each month from domestic and international audiences. Fox Valley Technical College has developed over 200 Learning Objects on electronics technology topics, and 1700 on other subjects, such as: mathematics, science, and written communications, in addition they have also developed LOs for other occupational programs. Many of the Learning Objects are animated multimedia instruments that are accessible at no charge from their website. Through a National Science Foundation grant, an additional 300 LOs are currently being created for automation, robotics, mechanics, fluid power, and process control.
