How Many Credits Should an Undergraduate Take?

The authors use nationally-representative data and propensity-score matching methods to determine if academically and socially similar students who initially attempt 15 rather than 12 credits graduate at significantly higher rates within 6 years of initial enrollment. They find that 15 credits per semester enrollment would improve graduation rates for most kinds of students, but may not do so for students who work outside of school for more than 30 hour per week.
