CLE for Foreign Language Learning, in which MyChinaVillage is analyzed as a Constructivist Learning Environment, does not fully embody constructivism because as a technology-based platform, the language used cannot be verified as authentic. The use of online translators means that both learners and facilitators may look up words or phrases they do not know while simultaneously participating in the 'learning' environment. This lowers the context from meaningful to predictable, and limits authentic social negotiation as well as active use of learning. Recreating language learning through a digital platform involving avatars and delayed responses lowers authenticity and simply does not embody a constructivist learning environment.
