This case study describes the experiences of the Master of Distance Education program at Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg, Germany. They determined that virtual seminar for professional development in distance education was needed to address two critical needs: 1) The need for faculty and administrator training programs in which they can develop a broader perspective of the general foundations of distance education and learn critical knowledge and skills in the field, and 2) The need for a global perspective among distance education faculty and administrators so they can benefit from the knowledge of how other institutions approach distance ecucation and solve problems.
