Students love Animoto, especially those who lack confidence in their digital creativity. Animoto would be a great tool to have students use to share work after they have experimented with digital photography. Advanced students may be frustrated with the inability to edit the video.  However, this will provide an opportunity to introduce them to more sophisticated digital video editing tools.

I use Animoto in several of my education courses for student teachers and teachers returning to earn their MA degrees. I can capture images and video clips using my iPhone (or digital camera) and can create upbeat and timely summaries of our class activities for viewing by our next class session. Animoto allows me to model appropriate use of digital technologies for my students. Furthermore, my students are able to turn around and use it for educational lessons, field trips, and more. Of course, we discuss school policies and expectations before they do that.
