The AWL is a list of 570 word families that occur with great frequency across a range of academic disciplines. The site explains what the AWL is and why it is important to learn it. In addition, there are 171 online gapfill exercises for students to work on so that each word in the AWL appears in three different exercises, sometimes with different derivations.
