This is a QR code. A QR Code is a 2-dimensional barcode, which has encoded in it a URL (web address), text, or other information. It can be read by a QR code scanner, including QR scanner smartphone apps. Once you have an app installed on your smartphone, open the app and hold your phones camera over a QR code to read it. This ten-session graduate-level course is designed to acquaint elementary and secondary stakeholders with an understanding of how to prepare accessible instuctional materials for students with print impairments.
As members of IEP teams, parents, regular and special educators, administrators, and related service personnel must make vitally important decisions regarding the acquisition and use of assistive technology tools and instructional materials in specialized formats to ensure that students can participate fully in the general curriculum. This course will equip participants with the information and skills to:
* Evaluate the accessibility of digital files,
* Create accessible digital files,
* Convert print documents and electronic files to other specialized formats,
* Recognize and devise strategies to overcome barriers to information access,
* Assist IEP teams and students to select appropriate assistive technology tools for materials production and information access, and
* Advise IEP teams regarding the selection, acquisition, preparation, and effective use of classroom materials in specialized formats.
