Description:

This simulation of a plate-type fractional distillation column demonstrates vaporization and condensation of a methanol-water mixture under reflux conditions. The effects of changing a feed tray of the tower, feed preheating, and flooding are observed. Thermocouple temperatures and specific gravity are recorded at set intervals during the procedure in order to calculate heat efficiency and product purity.
