Description:

EXPLORING CAREERS IN DENTISTRY is a resource which helps students make the decision to enter into dentistry.  All the needed prerequisites are explained, along with the tests needed.  Dental schools are listed as well as possible scholarship sources.  The rigors of a  dental education are  outlined; and the required courses in dental school are explained in detail.  The schedule and life of a dentist is described, also.

Jessica A. Rickert, D.D.S. is the first American Indian female dentist in the world, a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.  She graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1975 and has maintained a private practice in Northern Michigan.  In 2007, she was awarded the ACCESS AWARD by the American Dental Association.  In 2009, Dr. Rickert was inducted into the Michigan Women's Hall of Fame.
