Description:

The Online Learning Module "Reflection & Mirrors" introduces students to some of the basic concepts of geometrical optics. It combines interactive animations, videos, slides with graphics, and continuous narration that guides the users along as they study the material on their own. Students are explicitly encouraged to play with the interactive animations and to perform virtual experiments, thus becoming active learners rather than passive listeners. The law of reflection and principal ray diagrams for spherical mirrors are presented, and quantitative problems at the introductory college level are worked out.
