| Description: |
This creative activity is designed to teach 5-7 year olds about the concept of penguin diversity and adaptation – the process whereby a species evolves characteristics that enable it to survive in a particular habitat. Students learn about how different species of penguins are adapted physically and behaviourally to survive in their particular habitat. Working individually, students are provided with the materials needed to create a mask representing one species of penguin. Time is then given for each student to create their own mask. Students then present their masks to the rest of the class, explaining which species they chose.
