Marvelous Mini-beasts

Marvelous Mini-beasts

This creative activity is designed to teach 7-11 year olds about the concept of adaptation – the process whereby a species evolves characteristics that enable it to survive in a particular habitat. Using mini-beasts as the example, students learn about how different types of mini-beasts are adapted for particular things such as moving, escaping predators and finding food. Working in groups, students are asked to design and create their own new species of mini-beast. Students then present their new species to the rest of the class and explain how their particular species is adapted to feed, move, escape from predators etc.
